The S2R-1600 features a compact, torsion-resistant steel frame designed for durability and stability. It is equipped with two highly wear-resistant, fluted rubber rollers measuring 185 mm in diameter to ensure consistent rigidity and uniform glue application. The upper roller is spring-mounted and adjustable via bevel gearing, with height settings clearly indicated on an easy-to-read scale.

A two-column guidance system controls and positions the rollers, allowing precise glue distribution across the full working width. Glue tanks can be fine-tuned for accurate coverage and are slightly pivotable for quick and convenient cleaning.

Oversized ball bearings on the rubber rollers are sealed to prevent contamination and protected against splash water. Power transmission is achieved through cylindrical gears, while low-noise synchroflex toothed belts drive the rollers smoothly and efficiently.

The machine meets current woodworking industry safety standards and includes:

  • Fully enclosed hazard areas

  • Upper workpiece feed protection via a suspended safety flap mounted directly at the roller entry point, activating an emergency stop when engaged

  • Covered limit switches that require tools for removal

EVANS MIDWEST S2R-1600 Glue Spreader – Frequently Asked Questions

What is the EVANS MIDWEST S2R-1600 Glue Spreader used for?

The EVANS MIDWEST S2R-1600 Glue Spreader is an industrial adhesive application system designed to apply a consistent, controlled layer of glue to panel substrates before laminate pressing. It is widely used in laminate casework manufacturing, institutional millwork production, and composite panel fabrication.

What types of adhesives can the S2R-1600 apply?

The S2R-1600 is designed to handle common woodworking adhesives used in laminate and panel production, including PVA and other water-based glues. Proper adhesive selection depends on substrate type, laminate material, and press requirements.

What materials can be processed with this glue spreader?

The S2R-1600 applies adhesive to plywood, MDF, particleboard, and other panel substrates prior to bonding high-pressure laminate (HPL), veneer, or composite overlays.

Why is consistent glue application important in laminate casework production?

Uniform adhesive spread ensures strong bonding, prevents delamination, reduces panel rejects, and improves long-term durability. In school and institutional casework, proper bonding is essential for meeting performance standards.

How does the S2R-1600 improve production efficiency?

The S2R-1600 delivers precise adhesive coverage across the panel surface, reducing manual glue application time, minimizing waste, and preparing panels quickly for hot pressing.

Is the S2R-1600 suitable for high-volume laminate production?

Yes. The machine is engineered for continuous-duty operation in cabinet shops and institutional manufacturing environments producing large volumes of laminated panels.

Is the EVANS MIDWEST S2R-1600 Made in the USA?

Yes. The S2R-1600 Glue Spreader is proudly manufactured in the United States, supporting domestic procurement requirements for schools and government facilities.

How does the S2R-1600 reduce adhesive waste?

By applying a consistent and controlled glue film, the machine reduces over-application, lowers adhesive consumption, and improves cost efficiency in laminate production.

Where does the S2R-1600 fit in a complete laminate casework workflow?

The glue spreader operates immediately before laminate layup and hot pressing. Proper adhesive preparation ensures reliable bonding during the pressing stage.

Can the S2R-1600 integrate with ORMA Hot Press systems?

Yes. The S2R-1600 is designed to support laminate layup workflows feeding directly into hot press systems, improving overall production flow and bonding consistency.

Why choose an EVANS MIDWEST glue spreader over manual application?

Automated glue spreading improves uniformity, reduces labor, minimizes errors, and enhances bonding reliability compared to hand application methods.

How do I determine if the S2R-1600 is right for my shop?

The S2R-1600 is ideal for laminate casework shops requiring consistent adhesive application across standard panel sizes. Centex Automation can evaluate panel dimensions, adhesive types, and production volume to confirm suitability.
